Ask your MP to sign the Changing Places Early Day Motion
MPs of all parties have signed up to an Early Day Motion supporting the Changing Places campaign. An EDM is a kind of petition which MPs can sign to express their views about any issue. Ministers are not usually allowed to sign EDMs, but other MPs may do so.
We want as many MPs as possible to sign EDM 642, tabled by Philip Davies MP. The full text of the EDM is as follows:
"That this House recognises that around 40,000 people in the UK with profound and multiple learning disabilities, along with many thousands of other disabled people, cannot use standard accessible toilets, and require public toilets with enough space for disabled people and their carers, along with the right equipment, including a height adjustable changing bench and a hoist; and supports the Changing Places campaign launched by the Changing Places Consortium of Mencap, PAMIS, Nottingham City Council, Dumfries and Galloway Council, the Valuing People Support Team and the Scottish Executive Same As You Team, which is calling for more of these toilets to be installed in public places to enable disabled people and their carers to be active citizens."
Visit the UK Parliament website to see which MPs have already signed the EDM
Please write to your MP to ask him or her to sign it, and to add their support to our campaign. If you write to your MP please let us know - and please send us a copy of any reply you receive, too.
