Wembley Stadium hosts Disability Equality Seminar

NADS logoWe are campaigning for Changing Places toilets to be installed in football grounds to ensure that people with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and other people who need these facilities can be fully included.

Wembley Stadium recently hosted a Disability Equality Seminar which saw representatives of The FA, Wembley National Stadium Limited, the Premier League, Football League and Football Conference meet with football fans from across the country to share personal experiences and identify ways in which disabled supporters can be better supported in the future.

The event was co-ordinated by the National Association of Disabled Supporters (NADS), a supporter of the Changing Places campaign. NADS was formed in 1998 and is an umbrella organisation that represents all disabled fans. Its main aims are to campaign for equality of supporters experience and to be a voice for all supporters with a disability.

In March 2011 NADS changed its trading name to Level Playing Field as they feel this name better embraces the social model of disability and their works and projects.
Level Playing Field (LPF) is a registered charity in England and Wales and acts as a campaigning and advisory organisation to its membership and other parties across all sports.

·         LPF has a dedicated team of staff with specialist knowledge, skills and experience around issues concerning access and inclusion.
·         LPF provides support and advice to disabled sports fans, their clubs and governing bodies.
·         LPF provides Access Audits that are overseen by our Access & Development Team, all of which are National Register of Access Consultants (NRAC) accredited and who have a wealth of experience doing access audits at sports venues.
·         LPF embraces the ‘social model of disability’ and promotes the removal of barriers that might prevent a disabled spectator from attending or enjoying a live sports event.
