Stansted Airport First Major London Airport to Launch Pan-Disability Detailed and Transparent Access Guide

Thanks to support from Manchester Airport Group (M.A.G), London Stansted Airport now has its own fine grain detailed accessibility guide. The service is available to use for FREE here www.disabledgo.com/stansted or just Google ‘DisabledGo London Stansted Airport’.

The new guide, developed in partnership with DisabledGo, aims to assist disabled people or anyone who would like to know more about how to get to and around the airport.

The airport was independently assessed in person by DisabledGo surveyors who looked at each stage of the passenger journey. The access guide talks users through the accessibility of the airport – from transport to check-in, security to departures, together with the assistance available. It also provides detailed information – from walking distances to toilet locations, fixtures and fittings to dimensions, signage to hearing assistance and lighting.

London Stansted is the first London airport to publish a fully transparent, independent fine grain detailed pan-disability access guide.  M.A.G, the airport operator is committed to enhancing the experience of its passengers, and the guide aims to give disabled people and their families the confidence to fully access the airport and have the best trip possible. The guide will join over 125,000 other venues across the UK that already feature on www.disabledgo.com.

The guide launches at a time when consumer research carried out by Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) states that passengers with reduced mobility demonstrated a strong demand for information, such as walking distances, waiting times, number and type of accessible toilets.  Equally the guide looks to address the needs of people with a wide range of requirements and providing many essential details for people with hidden impairments.

The information in the guide will enable people with access concerns to independently decide for themselves the best way to access the airport and to decide in advance how much assistance they will need.
