Cleen and Changing Places team up to improve standards

The Changing Places Consortium and Cleen have teamed up to help raise standards of Changing Places toilets across the UK. Cleen is the UK’s first fully integrated management tool and review app – which has been developed by HSG, The Hygiene Services Group. This means that monitoring the network of registered Changing Places toilets will now be easier than ever!

The Cleen app has a special area for reviews of Changing Places toilets which can be used to report on issues such as faulty bed hoists and unreachable emergency cords, as well as problems with cleanliness. HSG is working with Changing Places venues and equipment providers to develop Cleen ‘dashboards’, which will notify them instantly of any issues so they can monitor their reviews and take the appropriate action. The information is also available for the Consortium.

Of course, the app also allows people to highlight positive experiences too which are shared publicly on the app to let other users know when a Changing Places facility has great standards.

Facility providers can also purchase the Cleen Tablet which is installed in or near washrooms and enables reviews to be posted directly on site without a smartphone.

The partnership was officially launched at an event at Leeds City Museum, to mark Changing Places Awareness Day on Friday 19th July. Karen Hoe, Changing Places Development Officer, said:

“Cleen is a game-changer for the Changing Places campaign and we are very grateful to HSG for their support in providing us with this latest technology.
“The Cleen App gives people a voice to highlight issues and praise good standards.  The Cleen Dashboard will enable the service and equipment providers to quickly take action where standards are falling short and for us to monitor the overall network.”

HSG Managing Director Simon Rice developed Cleen with the aim of improving the world “one washroom at a time”. He continued:

“Everyone deserves access to clean, safe and accessible washroom facilities and raising industry standards is a particular passion of mine.

“We developed Cleen to enable anyone using a washroom in all kinds of venues to review their experience – rather like Trip Advisor – from restaurants and theatres to shopping centres and airports.

“We were however particularly keen to have a special section on the app for Changing Places facilities in recognition of the particular challenges that so many people across the UK face simply by enjoying a day out or travelling from A to B.”

The Cleen App is free to download and enables people to log reviews of toilet facilities in any type of venue. For more information please visit www.cleen.world or search the app store in Apple or Android.
