May 2016 - Monthly Update

What a month!

Changing Places Awareness Day – Consortium 10th Anniversary – 19th July 2016
The 10th Anniversary of the Changing Places campaign is getting closer and plans are taking shape nicely. We have heard from many campaigners and organisations across the UK (and further afield) who are getting involved on July the 19th and already have over 250 selfies and photos for the event.
Keep sending the selfies as we want everyone who has been involved in the campaign over the past 10 years to be represented on the day. Send via social media #incLOOsion or email to ChangingPlaces@mencap.org.uk

Our campaign sponsors Aveso are supporting many events across the UK on July 19th and have posted a blog with some great ideas from Changing Places campaigners. Read it here.

A 10th Anniversary document celebrating 10 years since the formation of the Changing Places Consortium and the official launch of the Changing Places campaign will be available soon.

Celebrating Campaigning
We will be sending a template press release out in June to campaigners and organisations who want to take part in the celebrations on 19th July by promoting their campaigning in the local press or on local TV and radio. We want to see #incLOOsion trending on twitter on the big day! Please email ChangingPlaces@mencap.org.uk for a copy of the press release and tell us your plans.

Colostomy Association
We were delighted to receive a news story and blog from the Colostomy Association and
Caroline Richards, a mum from Wales with a stoma. We continue to encourage providers to add a colostomy shelf to their Changing Places toilets.
Full story here.

facebook News
