Sandcastle Waterpark Award

PRESS RELEASE FROM SANDCASTLE WATERPARK

Sandcastle Waterpark has won the 2016 Lancashire Tourism Award in the Access For All category.

The prestigious awards, held at Blackburn Cathedral, recognise and celebrate the very best that Lancashire Tourism has to offer.
The Access for All Award was awarded to the team at Sandcastle Waterpark in recognition of its commitment to Accessible Tourism, and it’s ongoing program of improvements, new initiatives and training, which has lead to a rise in the number of guests with disabilities and accessible needs visiting the popular Blackpool Waterpark.
In 2016 Sandcastle Waterpark opened it’s 4th poolside wet room to compliment the existing facilities including the Gold Standard wet room which, in 2016 was voted the nations favourite Changing Place Facility (voted for by users of disabled bathroom facilities nationwide) and to accommodate the demand from disabled guests. Additional dates were also added to the Accessibility Evening calendar. Accessibility Evenings offer families with disabled children the chance to spend quality time together in the Waterpark without public service announcements and music and additional Water Ambassadors are on hand to assist the children and their families whilst in the water and on the slides.

Managing Director John Child said “I am delighted to receive this award in recognition of our commitment to Accessible Tourism”. The team here at Sandcastle Waterpark work extremely hard to ensure that our guests with disabilities have a great day out. We are committed to ensuring that our facilities, staff training and the implementation of new initiatives will encourage even more guests with disabilities and their families to visit Sandcastle Waterpark in the future”.

Sandcastle Waterpark is a previous winner of the Visit England Gold Award for Accessibility and as a result of winning this years Access for All Award, will once again go onto represent the region at the 2017 Visit England Awards.
